Former Congresswoman and 2012 Presidential Candidate, Michelle Bachmann, stands for the truth of God’s word, and boldly places faith above politics. As a Republican, she supports President Donald Trump, but she does not allow her political allegiance to him dissuade her from criticizing any of his policies which do not agree with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Scripture makes abundantly clear that God is not pleased when any government attempts to divide his land – the promised land of Canaan – whether it be a Republican or Democrat Administration seeking to do so. The Lord proclaims, through the prophet Joel, “I enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage, Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided my land” (Joel 3:2).
It is most regrettable that President Trump has been listening to the foolish counsel of his daughter, Ivanka, and his globalist son-in-law, Jared Kushner, rather than paying attention to God’s word and creating foreign policy accordingly. It is reported the President has been reconsidering their unsound advice, expressing disillusionment. We are very hopeful this is the case!
Unlike King Rehoboam, the President would do well to listen to older, wiser advisers, such as Michelle Bachmann, who see the importance of honoring God’s statutes (e.g. 1 Kings 12:1 – 15). “When there is no vision, the people perish” (Prov. 29:18). The Congresswoman deserves to be quoted in full:
“On January 28th, 2020, a plan was revealed that envisioned a dividing of the covenant and a division of Jerusalem. Since that time, we have seen nothing but distress. The Bible speaks of that in Zechariah: Anyone who burdens themselves with a division of Jerusalem will cut themselves upon a rock. Nations will be destroyed, Isaiah 60 says, if they do not follow the word of God. Messiah will judge nations, Psalm 2:12 says. It’s very clear. That’s why this warning was given to various high officials prior to the release of this plan. Now warnings are given again that perhaps this distress could be removed from our nation if we would withdraw the maps in this plan that envision the division of the biblical land and the division of Jerusalem.
Could it be that in part the reason why we have seen the unparalleled historic distress from going again 100 years later paralleling what happened to the British Empire, exact replica parallel of us, the greatest nation the world has ever seen, more powerful and more prosperous, we too are being pulled down as we got behind a plan that envisioned this division? This is very important now that we reaffirm what is still international law. The San Remo agreement that Israel has full sovereignty over her land, including Judea and Samaria, and that Jerusalem is an eternal undivided city and must never be divided.”
As Bachmann points out, the “Vision For Peace” map must be withdrawn if the United States wishes to receive relief from the current crises, and avoid going the way of the Ottoman Empire, the British Empire, Nazi Germany and every other modern superpower that turned against Israel. President Trump may, in fact, come to repentance on this matter, avoiding the same kind of downfall. We observe, even in our own brief history as a nation, the great loss of blessings and a heightened degree of suffering whenever United States foreign policy did not seek Israel’s interests. This is not to say there are no other causes for the present affliction, but God is certainly able to abate any calamity when a nation repents and seeks his will.
God promised, “I will bless those who bless you and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed” (Gen. 12:3). We know that God channels his blessings to the world through Israel. All of our spiritual blessings, including the Scriptures, the Savior, and the coming kingdom, only come to us through the nation of Israel.
Satan, through various avenues, labors to destroy Israel and hinder the nations from blessing her, but God has pronounced blessings upon nations that honor her as God’s chosen people. We see this throughout history, but it has been especially evident in our time. Historically, there has been no friend to Israel like the United States. It is no accident that Americans are the most prosperous people on earth. At times, however, we have fallen off the wagon, giving a voice to Antisemitism.
Consider how blessed we were after Donald Trump made the unprecedented decision to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, thereby officially recognizing it as the capital of the nation of Israel. The economy was roaring. We experienced great peace and prosperity in the world, including the utter annihilation of ISIS, along with record high stock market and employment numbers. Being enraged at the Trump Administration’s plan to divide the holy land, it appears God is letting his anger known.
Congresswoman Bachmann concludes with the following remarks:
“Jerusalem is an eternal, undivided city and must never be divided. I would call upon the White House to withdraw that plan and it just may be that the Lord in his grace and mercy may lift the distress upon our land even in our time and resume his hand of favor which was so clear and evident until January 28th, 2020. That is my request. That is my prayer. I love my president. I pray for him daily. I just ask the question, in light of Scripture, in the light of day that we live in, could it be that this distress really has been, in part, caused by this? And could it be that this distress could be relieved if action would be taken to come into conformity with the clear word of God?”
I echo her sentiments: Could it be that the coronavirus pandemic, attacks on liberty, race riots and other problems we are seeing overwhelm the United States are an outworking of the divine promise to curse nations that curse Israel? Is it possible that God has withdrawn his hand of protection from our nation, allowing Satan to have his way, to some degree, until we come to our senses and finally respect his decrees concerning Israel?
With humility, prayer, and repentance, Bachmann argues the Lord may grant relief if President Trump’s new plan to divide Israel is relinquished forthwith. This agrees with the Biblical principle that the Lord relents of the evil intended, but only upon wholehearted repentance of the sinful nation offending him (i.e. 2 Chron. 6:36 – 39; 7:13 – 15; Lam. 3:25 – 33, et al). Ultimately, God will use the choices of our leaders to accomplish his holy purposes concerning Israel.
After Balak became furious with Balaam for blessing, rather than cursing, the people of Israel, Balaam responded, “If Balak should give me his house full of silver and gold, I would not be able to go beyond the word of the Lord, to do either good or bad of my own will. What the Lord speaks, that will I speak” (Num. 24:13). Like Balaam, may we speak only blessings for the nation of Israel, thereby receiving bountiful gifts and relief from distress through them. Pray for our president! – MAH
